August 22, 2012

SEO for different industries and target audiences require various channels and methods to drive the right customers to your store or website, right?

Which SEO methods can you be doing for high quality SEO? Are you doing search engine advertising or maybe social media and social media advertising?

If you’re at all curious or interested in knowing some “bordless” SEO tips, tricks and guidelines which are straightforward to follow after recent Google Panda and Penguin update…

As the saying goes…keep reading or get left behind!

Well, it all starts with a simple kiss…on-page SEO ranking, which depends on a number of factors:

1. LSI keywords
2. Title tags and meta tags
3. Keyword density

Next, let’s start breaking down processes into some logical order to increase the results you get from your SEO efforts in terms of search ranking from your favourite search engines:

1. LSI Keywords:

Ever since the 2008, one of the essential and important factors affecting on-page SEO ranking has been LSI or Lateral Semantic Indexing Keywords.

Ensured integrating these with the Google algorithm is what LSI keywords can do, which is all related to search terms with the actual original keywords user enters.

SEO for example, suppose the user enters the original keyword as “How to create a blog,” some of the related LSI keywords would include:

  •  Creating a blog
  •  Tips for creating blogs
  •  How to create a blog on blogger
  •  Easy blog creation
  •  Steps to create a blog
  •  Importance of blogs in marketing
  •  Blog creation made easy

LSI keywords are directly related to the entered keyword and it seems like Google is simply in love with them.

In fact, this factor is one of the main reasons why websites such as Wikipedia are successful because they make use of such keywords throughout their articles.

While creating a website, one should definitely keep this factor in mind and make use of LSI keywords in titles, descriptions and throughout body of the articles to increase on-page SEO ranking….does that make sense?

2. Title Tags and Meta Tags:

You no longer would add main keyword directly into title tag all the time. Instead you can use LSI keywords or a variation of main keyword you targeting in the title/description tags.

For example your main keyword is: “How to create a website”

Some of the variations that can be used are: “Learn how to create a website in 2 hours”

…or “Want to know how to create a website?”

This way it looks more natural to the search engines and you won’t get penalized for over optimization. Although there are still examples of websites ranking well with just main keyword in title/description tags…

However, it’s safe to stay away from such tactics now!

3. Keyword Density:

Once upon a time when the optimum range for keyword density was 2-4%. However, it is no longer the same. Today, the range of 0.5-1% works out to be a lot more effective…

Off-Page SEO – certain factors are responsible for determining off-page SEO ranking and these include:

1. Deep Page Links
2. Different link types
3. Variety in Anchor Text
4. Variety in TLD’s
1. Deep Page Links:

Ensure all links are built not only to the primary domain. The site’s inner web pages needs links built for them as well…

SEO for example, you own a website on the topic of web-apps, it would be smart to have links distributed as below:

  •  Latest web-apps: 10-20 links
  •  Most popular web-apps: 10-20 links
  •  Most used web-apps: 0-10 links
  •  Best rated web-apps: 0-10 links

2. Different Link Types:

Using different link types is better for the long-term success of your website. It actually takes time for people to figure this out. Why?

Because if you’re giving preference to blog commenting and forum posting and see some success, over a period of time, these start to become less effective…

In order to get effective results, what you could do is start building backlinks from different types of platforms. Some of these different types of links would include:

  • Social Bookmarking
  •  Social Media Sites
  •  Article Directories
  •  Web 2.0
  •  Wiki links
  •  Niche Relevant blog comments
  •  Press Releases, and more

You would also mix “do follow” and “no follow” links in order to make link building appear natural. Also stay away from spamy links such as mass blog commenting and mass forum profiles.

SEO tip: Avoid going after 1000’s of links instead you want to focus on quality link sources.

3. Variety in Anchor Text:

After the penguin update websites which built links with zero or minimal variation in the anchor texts suffered from a major drop in their ranks.

This used to work very effectively previously but guess what, that was then, this is now.

The following format works effectively as of right now as we speak:

  • 30-40% of the links to be built with LSI keywords (anchor text related keywords)
  • 40-50% of the links to be built on the basis of random text such as ‘Click Here’,
  • Click Here Now’, ‘Get Info’, ‘domain+keyword’, ‘domain.com’

Yes, you guessed it, right because the 10-15% of links to be created with the primary keyword being used for ranking results…

4. Variety in TLD’s:

Simply SEO, search engines find it unnatural if most of your links are coming from the same TLDs or Top Level Domains. So it is therefore important to mix it up.
